Volume

Scoring volume uses Vantage’s Points per Chance metric, where “chance” is defined as the uninterrupted possession of the ball. Vantage tracks and uses chances to isolate parts of the game such as scoring from overall offensive efficiency, which creates noise in per-possession and per-minute stats.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Shot Quality

Shot quality uses Vantage’s Open+ Frequency to show how many of the player’s shots against the selected opponent are likely to be uncontested.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Tough Makes

Tough makes uses Vantage’s Contest+ FG% to show the player’s likelihood of making his contested shots against the selected opponent.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Volume

Passing volume takes the luck out of the player’s number of assists by using Vantage’s Assist+ per 100 Chances, which also counts passes to missed open shots, passes to shooting fouls, and crucial passes leading to assists. A “chance” is the uninterrupted possession of the ball.

For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Pass Quality

Passing quality looks only at passes to uncontested shots, which are the most likely to turn into assists.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Screen Assist

Screen assist looks at the percentage of the player’s Assist+ off received screens. If the player likes to run the pick-and-roll, then you’d like to see a favorable Screen Assist matchup.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Defensive Volume

Defensive rebounding volume not only uses chances to isolate rebounding volume from overall defensive efficiency but also uses both rebounds and tips to possession. Past tips to possession are as likely to be scored rebounds in future games. A “chance” is the uninterrupted possession of the ball.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Offensive Volume

Pursuit

Vantage’s Pursuit Rate looks at the percentage of the player’s Reb+ after moving from one area of the court to another during the rebound opportunity. If the player likes to crash the boards, then you’d like to see a favorable Pursuit matchup.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Forcing Turnovers

Forcing turnovers takes the luck out of the player’s number of steals by using Vantage’s TO Forced per 100 Chances, where a “forced TO” requires the player to cause the turnover with pressure.
The player’s +/- matchup rating is relative to his average performance. For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Deflections

Nothing leads to more steals than deflections. Use the Deflections matchup to get an idea of how many steal opportunities the player is likely to have.

For example, if two players have a +15 in a category, this means they are both likely to outperform their average performances in that category assuming the same playing time, not that they are likely to have similar performances in that category.

Blocking Volume
